Hi Ted, and thanks for visiting us at planDisney. I’d love to chat about how to pay for all the fun food and merchandise during your vacation at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
First, I’m happy to let you know that you can use a credit card (physical card or mobile wallet, like Apple Pay) at pretty much all food kiosks and eateries at Disney World. You might want to bring a small amount of cash, just in case, but on my recent trips, I’ve almost exclusively used Apple Pay on my phone to buy things at Disney World.
Now, on to gift cards!
Disney Gift Cards can be used at most eateries and stores at Disney World, including when you’re using
merchandise mobile checkout or
mobile food ordering through the
My Disney Experience app. However, there are some exceptions. Restaurants and stores owned by a third-party company, like some of the ones at
Disney Springs, may not accept Disney Gift Cards.
If you purchase a gift card, be sure to register it on
DisneyGiftCard.com. You’re able to manage up to six cards at a time there, so if you lose one during your trip, you can transfer the balance from the missing card to a different one. It's nice to have this added layer of safety!
Did you know you can even
add a Disney Gift Card to your phone’s mobile wallet? This makes it really easy to use gift cards right from your phone!
Finally, if you have a balance remaining after your trip, Disney Gift Cards can be used at many different Disney locations, including
Disney Stores,
DisneyStore.com,
Disneyland, and
Disney Cruise Line! You can find the
full list on DisneyGiftCard.com. Using the rest of your gift card on something from DisneyStore.com would be the practically perfect way to ease the post-Disney World blues!
I hope this helps get you ready for your vacation in November! And if you have any other questions before then, you’re always welcome back at planDisney.
