Hi, is it cheaper to renew a pass vs buying a pass later when they go on sale?

Welcome to planDisney, William! As a fellow Magic Key Holder, I know how important it is to map out another incredible year of visits to The Happiest Place on Earth.

As you may know, your Magic Key Pass renewal window opens 30 days before your current pass expires. During this time, you can renew at your current Key level or switch to a different one, paying the current price for that tier. You also have the option to let your pass expire and purchase a new one later. However, I should mention that Magic Keys do sell out, and certain levels may be unavailable if you choose not to renew. For example, at the moment, the Enchant Key is the only Magic Key currently available for new purchases by all guests. If keeping your current Key level is a priority, I’d recommend renewing as soon as your window opens to ensure you don’t miss out.

If you decide to stay in the Magic Key family, don’t forget about the extra perks and exclusive experiences that come with it! Right now, Disney California Adventure is celebrating the Food & Wine Festival, which is one of my favorite times of year to visit. The festival marketplaces serve up delicious bites inspired by California’s rich culinary heritage, and the Disney Parks Blog’s Foodie Guide is a must-read to help you map out your tastiest adventure.

And here’s a Q-Tip: Magic Key Holders can snag a special discount on the Sip and Savor Pass, which includes eight digital coupons for festival food and nonalcoholic beverages. It’s a fantastic way to sample a variety of flavors throughout the festival without having to make tough choices. My wife and I visited recently, and the Musubi Fried Rice and Western BBQ Burger Bao were absolutely delicious. I highly recommend those two offerings!

William, I have an extra Q-Tip you won’t want to miss during the Food & Wine Festival—Soarin’ Over California has returned for a limited time! This nostalgic favorite lets you soar over the Golden State’s most breathtaking landscapes, complete with those signature scents that make the journey even more immersive. Plus, it’s home to one of my favorite Hidden Mickeys! Keep an eye on the golf ball during the Palm Springs scene, but don’t blink: it’s a quick one! If you’re visiting during the Festival, adding Soarin’ Over California to your itinerary is an absolute must-do before it disappears again.

For the latest updates on all things Magic Key, including pass availability, discounts, and exclusive events, I highly recommend following Disneyland Magic Key on Instagram. And if you have any more questions about your Magic Key or any other Disneyland adventures, we’d love to welcome you back here at planDisney!

Have a magical day filled with great eats, amazing sights, and even a little Hidden Mickey hunting!
