I'm coming 'round the mountain to help you plan your visit to
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, Maryann! It's wonderful to see old friends around these here parts, so let me be the first to welcome you back to planDisney. We Tarheels gotta take care of one another, and that's exactly what I'm fixing to do by answering your question about the closest loops to the local trading posts and transportation options over yonder at the fort. We're burning daylight, so no more dilly-dallying, let's get the wagons rolling to your answer.
I took a gander at the map of Fort Wilderness, and there are two trading posts available at the resort. The first is the
Meadow Trading Post which can be found smack dab in the middle of the campsites, just adjacent to the Meadow Recreation Area, the Bike Barn, and Chip 'n' Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long. Loops 900 and 1000 are the closest options to this location. The other option is the
Settlement Trading Post which is the farthest flung from the main entrance, but closest to Pioneer Hall and the resort's boat launch. The closest loops to the Settlement area are Loops 100, 200, and 400.
There is a robust internal bus system at the Fort, and it's made up of three lines: purple, yellow, and orange. You can get anywhere you're aiming to go using these buses, and resort maps with transportation information are available from the front desk. If you can't make the trek up to the desk, you can access transportation information via the
My Disney Experience app if you've got one of those newfangled digital devices people seem to have nowadays. Drag the map over to the resort then toggle the "Transportation" icon to see all the bus stops available at the Fort. I count 14 internal bus stops in total, so you're just a short walk away from transportation during your stay.
That about does it for transportation information, Maryann, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. The guys and gals that make up the Pioneer Hall Players sure know how to put on a show, and the all-you-care-to-enjoy feast is a can't miss experience for me any time I mosey over to the Fort.
