Howdy Brandi, and welcome to planDisney.
Fort Wilderness is such a relaxing oasis, it’s hard to believe that the hustle and bustle of
Magic Kingdom is just a short
boat ride away!
Now, let’s talk about whether you need a
MagicBand at the campground. I prefer using a MagicBand when I’m staying at Fort Wilderness so I don’t have to worry about losing a key card. It’s so convenient to just put the MagicBand on my wrist and not have to think about it. However, having a MagicBand isn’t necessary. At Fort Wilderness, pretty much everything you can open with a MagicBand you can also do with a Key to the World Card, which you can get from the front desk.
While you don’t have a hotel room door to open at Fort Wilderness (unless you’re staying in one of the
cabins), there are a few things you’ll use a MagicBand or Key to the World Card to access, like entering the laundry room and comfort stations late at night. If you leave the campground in a vehicle, you’ll also use it to open the security gate on your way back in. If you’re planning to do this with a MagicBand, be sure to activate it first by using the band at a comfort station or laundry room. Alternatively, the front desk can also activate your MagicBand.
There’s so much to do at Fort Wilderness, my family could seriously spend our entire vacation at the campground! Some of our must-dos are visiting
Tri-Circle-D Ranch (where the horses from the
Festival of Fantasy Parade and
Main Street Vehicles live!) and driving our
golf cart around the campsite loops to check out everyone’s decorations. The Fort Wilderness community is always so creative and festive!
And, finally, our favorite way to end a pixie-dusted day at Fort Wilderness is with Chip ’n’ Dale at their
Campfire Sing-A-Long! We have so much fun roasting marshmallows, singing along to the live music, and dancing with those mischievous chipmunks.
I’m wishing you a pixie-dusted stay at the most magical campground on Earth! If you have any other questions, you’re always welcome back at planDisney.
