Hi Soleil!
Welcome to planDisney.
Thank you for sending in this great question. You would expect, given the amount of rainfall in Florida, that umbrellas would be allowed, but it's always worth checking what is permitted before you arrive at the parks.
The good news is that umbrellas
are permitted in the Walt Disney World theme parks. I recommend you bring a folding umbrella which is much easier to carry around the park in a backpack or any bag. I also recommend that when you walk through the security screening point you remove it from your bag and hold it so it's visible to the security officers. Otherwise, you may have your bag searched if it shows as an unrecognisable object.
A full list of prohibited items can be seen here.
Please take good care when using your umbrella, especially in crowded areas or while watching a parade or show as it may obstruct the view of guests nearby.
As an alternative to umbrellas for rain protection, the official Disney reusable ponchos provide great coverage and will be replaced if damaged. You can purchase them from stores and kiosks all around the theme parks and Disney Resort hotels for around $12 for adults, and $10 for children (
prices subject to change).
Please come back and visit us if you have any further questions, and you can
send me a direct question if you wish. We will be happy to help you plan your magical visit to Walt Disney World!
Sue
