Hiya, Erin! Thanks for popping by planDisney with your question!
It’s almost time for
Magic Key passes to go on sale again, granting Guests another chance to unlock a year sprinkled with pixie dust at the Happiest Place on Earth! I’m so excited to hear you’re thinking of joining the Magic Key family by upgrading your park tickets. It’s the best way to ensure the magic never ends!
You've asked an important question about that ticket upgrade and your existing park reservations. Here’s the short answer: Yes, once you transform your ticket into a Magic Key (poof!), you'll need to make brand new
park reservations. Your Magic Key is a whole new kind of enchanted ticket, and it needs its own special reservation to go with it!
But don't worry, Erin, because I have some other magical news to share! Since your SoCal Resident ticket has already had a taste of the fun (one day of fun, to be exact!), you should be able to
upgrade it to a Magic Key pass right from your phone using the
Disneyland mobile app. Just open the app, tap the menu button (three-lined icon at the bottom right), and select “My Tickets & Passes”. When your tickets appear, you should see an upgrade option. If you don’t see this, or if you’re having difficulty upgrading in the app, you can always
speak with a Cast Member who can help you get all squared away.
Now, Erin, before you choose your pass, I highly recommend taking a journey over to the
Magic Key page—it's like consulting a magical guidebook to find the perfect key for you! As I write this, all four types of Magic Key Passes are preparing to go on sale again soon. So keep your eyes peeled on that page for the most up-to-the-minute information.
And since you're already a pro at navigating reservations and blockout dates, it sounds like you're familiar with the
Magic Key calendar. It shows you which dates are open for adventure a whole year in advance. This will surely help you decide which pass is the perfect fit for you.
Here’s a little nugget of wisdom from one park pal to another: Planning ahead is the name of the game! You can hold up to 6 park reservations at a time depending on the pass you pick. The
“Compare Magic Key Passes” chart on this page is helpful because it shows you all the pass types side-by-side, including how many reservations you can hold at once, so you're sure to find your perfect match!
I’m crossing my fingers that you'll get your hands on a Magic Key, Erin! I’ve been a passholder for two years, and it has completely transformed my park visits. It’s like having a special pair of glasses that lets you see the magic in everything. I find myself taking my time, soaking up the atmosphere, and appreciating all the little details that make the Disneyland Resort so special. And the best part? If I don't ride every attraction or try every snack on one visit, there’s always another magical day waiting just around the corner! That's the true enchantment of being a Magic Key holder—you always have a reason to return to the magic!
Wishing you a journey filled with magic and wonder, Erin! And remember, your pals here at planDisney are always happy to help with any other questions you might have. Don't be a stranger!
