Hi. I have questions regarding reservations. How far in advance do you need to cancel a reservation? Is there any “penalty” should a reservation be canceled Thanks for your help!

Hi there, Dee. Welcome to planDisney! Thank you for bringing us your question.

Dee, life can be unpredictable, so I understand wanting to know what happens if you need to cancel. Currently, Disneyland Magic Key Pass Holders who need to modify or cancel their park reservations have until 11:59 PM Pacific Time the night before the reservation to do so without penalty. If something comes up and you fail to cancel by this time, your Magic Key will get a "no-show" if you don't make your theme park reservation. If you get three no-shows on your Magic Key in any 90-day window, you cannot make new park reservations or modify existing park reservations for 30 days.

If you need to modify your theme park reservations, find "Theme Park Reservations" on the "My Disneyland" tab of the Disneyland Resort website. Under the "Upcoming Theme Park Reservations" section, find the date of the reservation that you'd like to change or cancel and you'll see the "Modify Reservation" and "Cancel Reservation" options to the right. Dee, before modifying or canceling any reservation, I highly suggest checking the Magic Key calendar for availability for your new desired date and theme park. Currently, Magic Key holders can book park reservation dates three months out. I like to book as far out as possible, especially for the holiday season!

Dee, did you know that every Magic Key Pass is a Park Hopper? After 11:00 AM, you can visit either theme park on the day you have a reservation regardless of the park you reserved! The Park Hopper benefit allows Guests to run like a colt (I'm kidding, please walk!) between the parks and maximize their fun. My family loves to get to the Disneyland Resort as early as possible because we love the shorter wait times for rides and the ability to take practically perfect photos without the crowds. We ride as many rides as possible before hopping to the second theme park. Maybe this strategy will work for you!

If you have any more questions, please stop back by. At this point, we're practically family, and I'd love to help you with any other questions you have!

    Have a Zip-a-DEE-Doo-Dah day,
    Melissa
