Rebecca from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

When booking a room, the site notes "To add Ground Transportation, you must first have a Disney Resort Hotel Package (room and theme park tickets)." What is the ground transportation they are referring to?

Welcome to planDisney, Rebecca, and how exciting to be shopping for a Walt Disney World Resort Vacation Package! I love securing a package with a deposit and paying it off at my convenience. And the add-on features make your visit customizable, so let's look at those Ground Transportation options.

During the online process to book a package, you'll have several add-on options to select after you've chosen your Disney Resort Hotel and Theme Park Tickets. One of the options is "Ground Transportation - Add a Rental Car from Alamo." If you select that, you'll be taken to a screen asking for additional information, such as pick-up and drop-off locations. So, if you'll need a rental vehicle during your stay, this is the add-on for you! But please remember that once you're on Walt Disney World property, you'll have complimentary transportation to and from the theme parks and other locations.

If you're looking for ways to get from the airport to your Disney Resort Hotel, you can read some options in this answer I wrote for another guest. The most economical option from the airport is Mears Connect, Driven by Sunshine, but there are several other choices to consider. These options can be booked separately and not through the Walt Disney World website.

Since we're talking about add-ons, I highly recommend adding Memory Maker for your next visit. This service will give you unlimited digital downloads of all photos taken by Disney PhotoPass photographers during your stay, and you'll get a discount for purchasing it in advance. Some of my favorite Disney memories have been captured by the photographers, including my latest visit when my grown son was with us for the first time in forever! I'll always treasure the image of us grinning in front of Cinderella Castle, just like when he first visited as a toddler.

Rebecca, I'm waving my Fairy Godmother wand so that you'll book a magical Disney vacation soon. Please stop by planDisney anytime!

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
