Ahoy, Sara! Thanks for bringing your Disney Cruise Line question over to planDisney. I definitely want you to be able to use your Placeholder Reservation, so let me give you some of the details and explain where you can find your specific information.
As you know from your last sailing, the
Placeholder Reservation is a special onboard offer, which allows you to unlock future savings of at least 10% on your next cruise by putting down a deposit while you are still onboard. There is a limit of one future cruise booking per household for a maximum of two staterooms and the current requirement is a $250.00 deposit per stateroom. You are absolutely right that the future cruise must sail within 24 months and that date is calculated from when your Placeholder Reservation was booked, plus sail dates are always subject to availability and blockout dates do apply.
The easiest way to know for sure when your Placeholder Reservation must be used is by pulling up your Disney Cruise Line account online. Start by going to the
Disney Cruise Line website, click on the tab labeled “Already Booked,” and you will be prompted to login to your MyDisney account. After you login, click on the “My Reservations” option under “My Disney Cruise” and you will be able to select any of your upcoming cruises or Placeholders. You should see the “Future Cruise Placeholder” page and it will list the expiration date, which is the same as the latest possible departure date that you can choose for your cruise. In other words, you must actually embark on your next cruise within 24 months of the Placeholder Reservation purchase, but you do not have to complete the full sailing by that date.
Hopefully, you will be able to find the perfect
itinerary for later this year or early 2027. If you are unable to use your Placeholder for any reason, then your refund will automatically be processed to your original form of payment after the expiration date. There is also an option labeled “Cancel My Placeholder” on the “Future Cruise Placeholder” page if you want to initiate your refund immediately instead of waiting for the expiration date. Just know that once you cancel a Placeholder Reservation, you cannot get it back.
Disney Cruise Line is currently offering additional savings of up to 20% or 25% when you use your Placeholder Reservation on select sailings, so I highly recommend looking into those options. If you need any more recommendations for setting sail where magic meets the sea, then we are always here and ready to help at planDisney. Happy future sailing!
