Ahoy, Lori! Welcome to planDisney, where we aim to answer all of your questions about sailing where magic meets the sea.
When you sail with Disney Cruise Line, you will find special touches of Disney magic incorporated across the entire ship from forward to aft and starboard to port side. But much like those infamous hidden Mickeys, it can be difficult to even know where to begin looking when there is so much to take in! Thankfully, there are ship tours available, which are perfect if you are interested in learning more about the design elements, storytelling, and imagineering marvels that went into the making of each unique ship. On the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy, the tour has traditionally been known as the “Art of the Theme Show Tour.” However, on the newest ships, including the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny, the tour is called “Imagineering the Disney Ships.” These one-hour tours are reserved for adults ages 18+ and are offered at no extra cost.
Make sure that you have downloaded the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App prior to embarkation day and then you will be able to see the schedule of events for your entire sailing once you connect to the ship’s wi-fi at the port. Sometimes the tours are simply listed on the itinerary with a designated time and meeting place, but the newer ships have been requiring guests to reserve a spot to participate in the tour. Unfortunately, you cannot reserve a ship tour during your
advance booking window and must wait until embarkation day to make a reservation. Once you are connected to the ship’s wi-fi, look under the “Onboard Fun” category and you should see an option to reserve the “Imagineering the Disney Ships” tour. The exact days and times for the tours vary by sailing, so be sure to check the Navigator App on embarkation day to see your options. If you have any issues finding it, then you can always speak with a cast member at
Guest Services as well.
I hope you are able to participate in one of the tours on your upcoming sailing. My husband and I have taken the tours aboard several ships, including the
Disney Wish, and we always learn something new. You will walk away with a brand-new appreciation for the little details in the carpets, on the elevator wallpaper, and even in the light fixtures. If you have any other questions before you set sail, then you can always reach back out to planDisney. Happy sailing!
