Hey Howdy Hey, Erin!
Yeehaw! Welcome to planDisney. Thank you so much for giddying-up over here to ask your great question. While we certainly hope you get to immerse yourself in the magic during your Disney vacation, the cancellation policies are good to know because once in a while you get a snake in your boot and your plans go off trail.
Erin, I gave a holler to Guest Services and they shared with me the cancellation policies for a Room-Only reservation and a Vacation Package, which are always subject to change. It is also the general cancellation policy, so you may want to give them a holler yourself just to confirm your specific situation regarding your discount.
For a Room-Only reservation, at this time,
the Resort cancellation can be made up to 5 days in advance for a full refund. From 0-4 days, you lose the cost of a one-night stay (which is the deposit). Please note that policies are always subject to change. If you need to cancel your Room-Only reservation, you can contact Guest Services to do that for you.
Now, Erin, it's important to note that different cancellation policies apply should you book a Vacation Package. If you book your Resort reservation in a
Vacation Package, meaning you have a room and ticket package, you can cancel the entire package up to 30 days out from your arrival date for a full refund. From 2 to 29 days, you can cancel but will forfeit a $200 cancelation fee, though prices are subject to change. If you cancel the day before or on the day of your arrival, unfortunately, that is a complete forfeiture of the entire package cost. Please note also that if your Disney Resort Hotel is part of your package, you can't single out the hotel to cancel. The entire package will be impacted by any modifications you make.
If you do have to cancel, Erin, be sure and also cancel any
Advance Dining Reservations you may have made. Failing to do so or
canceling within two hours of your Dining Reservation time may result in a $10 fee per person on the Reservation (price is subject to change.) There are also a few restaurants that don't allow for modifications and a few require cancellations farther out than the two-hour window. I recommend noting all of the cancellation policies and time frames so you know them in advance of making the booking.
I hope this helps you, Erin and you and your whole toy box get to enjoy your vacation! If you have any further Disney vacation planning questions, mosey back here to see us and we will be happy to help. Remember, you've got a friend in me!
Happy Trails,
Keri
