Beth,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
I do love the
boat ride from the Magic Kingdom to Fort Wilderness. It is scenic, and relaxing, and it is always a great way to rest my tired feet after a long day of running around a theme park!
You are certainly welcome to use the boat service from the Magic Kingdom that will transport you to both
Fort Wilderness and
Disney's Wilderness Lodge. You do not have to be an active guest at either resort area to sail to these wonderful locales. In fact, I recommend making a reservation at one of the great dining destinations available in that area.
While the frequency of the boat service can vary over time, you do want to keep an eye out for their operating hours for your given day, which will be posted on a sign by the docks. But Disney states that you can expect to see a boat at a 15- to 30-minute interval. From my personal experience, I feel like it averages about 20 minutes between boats, which is squarely right in that range.
BONUS TIPWhen visiting the Fort Wilderness area, make sure you visit the all-new
Tri-Circle-D Ranch. It is a beautiful home for some of our favorite four-legged friends. My family and I visited there this Spring break before having dinner at the
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, and we were truly impressed. If you have a youngster in tow, a pony ride might not be a bad idea!
RANCH BONUS TIPThe ranch is open to visitors from 10 am to 5 pm.
