Jambo, Annette! Welcome to planDisney. You'll begin your Walt Disney World Resort adventure in a couple of days, and it sounds like you have an expedition planned for a wild feast. Let's look at transportation options so you won't be late for your
Boma - Flavors of Africa reservation.
Resort Transportation offers many options and combinations, so there's often more than one way to reach your destination. My family typically uses these complimentary rides because they're like attractions on their own. The Disney Skyliner is my favorite mode of travel!
However, since time is of the essence when getting to a dining reservation, I recommend using a rideshare service such as Lyft. My friends and I did this several times on a recent visit, and we typically only waited about five minutes for a ride. While this is a paid alternative, it's almost always the quickest. But if a leisurely outing is your speed, let's forge ahead!
Here's a travel hack, Annette. Open your
My Disney Experience mobile app and tap the map icon at the bottom of the screen. A map of the entire resort will pop up! Tap the dropdown menu at the top and select "Transportation."
Pinch the screen to zoom out and find
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge at the far left of the property map. Tap on any white transportation box to see "Get Directions." When you tap that box, you can type your destination, "Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter" to see your transportation options and estimated travel times.
I followed these steps and saw that bus transportation was the only complimentary way to travel between those two points. For a step-by-step list, tap "See Transit Directions."
You'll take the bus from Port Orleans to Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. From there, you can head to the loading area for Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge - Jambo House. Please look for signage listing the resort slip numbers or ask any Cast Member to point you in the right direction. The app estimates your total travel time to be about an hour.
If there were other options, such as the monorail or water transportation, you could toggle to see those routes, too. This handy tool can help you find directions anywhere on Disney property!
Annette, I hope you explore some fantastic food this week during your vacation. Thanks again for allowing
planDisney to accompany you on your trek! Please feel free to come back anytime. Kwaherini!
Magic awaits,
Elaine
