Hi Leanne! Welcome to planDisney. I’m really glad you stopped by with this question. Making sure every Guest has a comfortable and enjoyable experience at the Disneyland Resort is incredibly important, and I’m happy to walk you through how to request a DAS registration video chat.
As you may know,
DAS supports Guests who, due to a developmental disability such as autism or a similar condition, may not be able to remain in a traditional standby queue for long periods of time. Instead of waiting physically in line, DAS provides a return time that reflects the current standby wait, which allows eligible Guests to enjoy their day with a bit more comfort and flexibility.
If you plan to request DAS before your visit, you can begin the process through a
live video chat with a Cast Member up to 60 days before your arrival date. The Guest who needs DAS must be present for the conversation, so be sure they are nearby when you begin. My fellow panelist, Tony, has
shared that Cast Members are available from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM each day. Depending on when you join the queue, the wait for a video chat may be a few hours, so you might want to think about what time of day works best for you. Once you are ready, scroll to the “Ready to Chat with a Cast Member?” section on the DAS page, review the Terms and Conditions, then select “Request Live Chat” to get started.
If you prefer handling things once you arrive, that is absolutely an option. You can visit the
Accessibility Services Kiosk located in the Esplanade between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure (on the side closer to Disney California Adventure). The kiosk usually opens an hour before the parks and remains available until about two hours before closing.
After DAS is added to your account, the
Disneyland app becomes your main tool for requesting return times throughout the day. Once you enter your first park, tap the menu icon in the app and select the DAS tile. From there, choose an attraction and request a return time. You can hold one return time at a time and request another ten minutes after redeeming the previous one. Return times remain valid until either the attraction or the park closes, which gives you plenty of breathing room during your day.
If you are not using the app or simply prefer in-person assistance, Cast Members at Guest Relations or at the umbrella-covered Accessibility Services locations in both parks can help you request return times as well.
Leanne, I hope this gives you a clear picture of how to register for DAS and what to expect when planning your visit. If any other questions come up as your trip gets closer, please feel free to reach out to us again at planDisney. We’re always here to help you create the most magical experience possible.
Wishing you a wonderful day filled with magical moments,
David
