Hi there Luke, and a warm Canadian welcome to planDisney!
I hope that you and the kids are all super excited for your upcoming
Walt Disney World Resort vacation and as soon as I saw your question I knew I had jump on it with your arrival in just days from now! Like many fellow Canadians making their way down to Florida to escape the chills of winter, you might have found some great deals on flights to Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) that outweigh the distance - and you might just find it a bit of a less hectic experience when you compare it to the long security lines that you see at Orlando International Airport (MCO) at much busier times of the year. I personally looked into a number of transportation options when my very young nephews and niece were making their way down for our
Disney Fairy Tale Wedding in January, and ultimately it is a bit tricky either way when you require multiple car seats for your journey:
- The most cost-saving option that I've observed Canadian families undertaking when they arrive here at Walt Disney World Resort is bringing car seats along with them from home and renting their own vehicle, which can understandably be a lot to handle when you've got three to wrangle along with your luggage.
- In most cases, scheduling a ride with an app normally tends to be the most cost-effective and hassle free option but car seat availability tends to be the biggest snag here and there is never any guarantee whether a taxi will have seats that are appropriate for each of the children. (Even the Minnie Van™ Service Connected by Lyft—Within Walt Disney World Resort does not offer rides with the possibility of more than two car seats at the current time.)
- A lot of families traveling with little ones in tow tend to opt for pre-arranged transportation services with companies that have a long relationship and years of experience with taking younger guests to and from the Disney Resort Hotels. While I wish I could provide you with the names for specific companies on here, my biggest recommendation to reduce any travel stress once you land and before you leave again is to aim for private companies that can guarantee three car seats when you make your booking - just be prepared that this may often come at a bit of a higher price for the peace of mind.
Check out the recommend companies offering pre-arranged transportation directly on the Orlando Sanford International Airport for a place to start, and my friends and family often have luck connecting with Canadians on social media groups dedicated to planning trips down to Florida who can give you their own endorsements, reviews and personal experiences with the local companies they have recently used. I also highly recommend connecting directly with fellow Ontarians
Nilson and
Candace for their opinions on traveling with kids from Canada on their Disney adventures!
Wishing you all the best on your magical journeys together this week!
