Howdy, Verne, and welcome to planDisney! Your
Walt Disney World Resort visit will be here in two shakes of lamb's tail, so let's talk about driving around the property.
It sounds like you'll be hunkering down at
The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. My family has stayed in those cabins, and we enjoy having the extra living space to hang out and relax after a day in the theme parks. I recently experienced the
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue dinner show at this resort, so I learned firsthand about its transportation system.
You'll be able to park your vehicle at your cabin which is convenient for packing and unpacking your luggage. The other place that offers parking is in the Reception Depot lot near the resort entrance, so you won't be able to drive and park at
Trail's End Restaurant. But I have good news! This resort offers an internal bus service exclusive to campers and cabin guests.
Internal bus stops are located conveniently throughout the property, so when you arrive, I suggest you scout out the one closest to your cabin. The internal bus takes guests to the Outpost Depot where you can catch
Disney Bus Service to the theme parks and Disney Springs. The internal buses will also drop you at the Settlement Depot section where you can shop at the trading post, enjoy the sandy beach, catch a boat to
Magic Kingdom Park, or get food at Trail's End Restaurant.
When we were there last week, the internal buses came regularly, and we never waited for more than 10 minutes. I was a bit skeptical about using the internal system, but it was convenient and relaxing. We used the time on the bus to make plans and share our trip photos. I love leaving the driving to Disney!
My tip is to order your meal at Trail's End Restaurant through the
mobile ordering service on your app. You'll choose the Mobile Food Orders tab and tap the blue plus sign in the upper right. You'll see a list of theme parks and areas, so scroll to The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. If you will be arriving soon, tap Begin Order. If you'd like to pick up your food in the future, you can tap the restaurant's name to see a selection of Arrival Windows. Tap Order Food to see the menu, and you'll be rustling up some grub before you know it!
Verne, I hope you have a knee-slapping good time on your upcoming visit. If you need to holler back,
planDisney is always waiting around the campfire.
Magic awaits,
Elaine
