Hi Michelle,
Welcome to planDisney! I'm so happy to share some helpful tips for your upcoming solo visit.
I enjoyed a solo trip a few years back and loved going at my own pace, soaking in the sights (and the snacks) without a care in the world. Walt Disney World Resort felt like a very safe choice for my first solo adventure and I never felt any anxiety traveling around the property even well past my normal bedtime. I didn't rely on a mobility device during my visit, but I know that you'll be comfortable at almost any resort you choose. My recommendation is to choose a resort closest to the parks you plan to visit most, considering which
transportation methods you prefer.
Personally, I love the
Disney Skyliner which gives you access to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios from a few different starting points. The Skyliner should allow you to board without needing to step off your scooter which makes the travel process feel seamless. Cast Members will likely direct you to an area with gondolas set aside for
guests with mobility needs, allowing you to board while the gondola is stationary before it joins the parade of colorful, themed options soaring across the sky. Disney's Pop Century Resort and Disney's Art of Animation Resort share a Skyliner station and I love the colorful character theming of both locations. Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort is located at the central Skyliner hub, though this resort is sprawling and
does not have elevators in guest buildings like Pop Century and Art of Animation. However, you can request a ground-floor room.
Disney's Riviera Resort is another fantastic stop along the Disney Skyliner and is housed in a single towering hotel versus the separate guest buildings at the previously mentioned resorts. I love Primo Piatto for Quick-Service meals here and can never pass up Le Petit Café for my morning coffee. Each of these resorts will offer
complimentary bus service to the other parks, which are fully accessible for guests using ECVs.
If Magic Kingdom Park is your top destination consider a stay at Disney's Contemporary Resort which will put you just a short distance from the main gates and just one Monorail stop back at the end of the night. You can board the Monorail without exiting your scooter at any of the resorts along the Monorail route. Cast Members will direct you to an accessible loading area when you arrive.
I hope this gives you some helpful suggestions, Michelle. If we can offer any additional guidance or recommendations please don't hesitate to come back and let us know. We're always glad to help!
Magic and memories,
Amy
