Hello Keiry, and welcome to planDisney! You've got a wonderful Walt Disney World vacation planned for just around the riverbend. It will be here before you know it! I'd love to help you navigate how to manage your Disney Dining Plan. You've got a friend in me!
My family really enjoys adding a
Disney Dining Plan to our vacation package, and one of my favorite parts is the included resort-refillable mug. The free drink refill stations are typically found at your Disney Resort main Quick-Service dining location, as well as an additional soda refill station near the main feature pool. I keep mine handy, and use it often.
So here's how tracking your dining credits works. On check-in day, all of your dining entitlements will automatically be loaded into your reservation in My Disney Experience. They are not assigned to a specific guest. The total number of table service meals (if applicable), quick-service meals, and snack credits for your entire stay will be made available on arrival day for each guest on the reservation. At any time you can check on your remaining credit total in the
My Disney Experience app, under your resort details, then click "Check Dining Plan" tab. You'll also see remaining dining credit totals on your receipt, after using your dining plan to pay for food.
Anyone with charging privileges on your Disney Resort reservation will be able to tap their MagicBand, and use any of the credits from your room's total allotment. If you have individuals needing to keep track of their own portion of Dining Plan credits, maybe start with each person having a clear understanding of how many credits are "theirs" for the vacation?
For your
Quick-Service Dining Plan, each guest will receive:
- 2 Quick-Service Meals, per night of stay
- 1 Snack credit, per night of stay
I would hope your Disney Adult pals can follow an honor system! Although, who of us has not lost control, or been a tad irresponsible when it comes to eating park snacks like Mickey ice cream bars and
Tropical Serenades?!
I recommend clear communication with each of your magical roommates. Maybe kick things off with a, "Hey, we've each got # many quick-service meals, and # snacks for this trip. Please keep track of the credits you use!" Then perhaps at the end of each Disney Day, do a quick check-in whether everyone used their "2 meals and 1 snack" allotment, and verify your total balance looks correct in the app. Everyone will be able to view this in their own My Disney Experience app.
You could also follow my fellow panelist Elaine's advice, and swing by the front desk to have them set up
individual credit card charging for each person's MagicBand. When you go to pay for food, the Cast Member will typically inquire if you'd like to use the Disney Dining Plan, or just charge it to your MagicBand account? This may be a handy way to pay for those "extra" snacks, once you've used your snack credit for the day.
I hope this helps, and that you have a wonderful time with your friends at Walt Disney World! Please visit us at planDisney with questions any time.
Sending pixie dust,
Tami
