Hi Megan!
Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. I'm thrilled to hear you were able to purchase a
Magic Key when sales resumed last week. From what I heard, it was a very busy and exciting day until sales were once again halted.
As you likely read in the
Magic Key terms and conditions, passes are non-transferable and non-refundable. Though it is possible to
upgrade an eligible theme park ticket to a Magic Key when sales are available, unfortunately, you can't apply those tickets to a Magic Key once it's been purchased. You would have needed to upgrade your existing non-expired partially used tickets through your Disneyland Mobile App or upgrade in person with a Cast Member. I know that lines were quite long that day and visiting in person isn't always an option for all guests. But don't worry! In most cases, the
value of wholly unused expired tickets can be applied to the purchase of new tickets of equal or greater value.
I'd recommend hanging on to those tickets for now as you enjoy a magical year as a Magic Key holder. When your Magic Key expires you'll have the
option to renew or let the pass lapse and use the standard theme park tickets in your possession. You can also inquire with a Cast Member in person to upgrade those tickets, if applicable.
I know this is likely not the news you hoped for, but I'm still wishing you a magical year ahead at Disneyland Resort. Just be sure to make the appropriate
theme park reservations as you make plans to visit the parks in the coming months. If you have additional questions feel free to reach out to the
dedicated Magic Key phone number for further assistance.
Magic and memories,
Amy
