Riley, I know it can be stressful to make sure your phone is set to the right setting when you are out to sea. I'm happy to share my recommendations for you to
stay connected, but not be charged any unnecessary fees. Once the ship sets sail, make sure you toggle your phone to airplane mode and connect to the DCL-Guest Wi-Fi. You'll also want to make sure cellular data is toggled off. On the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, you'll be able to create an account to use throughout the cruise. Select "More" in the bottom right corner, then tap "Connect to the Internet." Currently, there are two packages available: Basic Internet and Internet+ Streaming. You can purchase one of these options for the length of the cruise or daily, and the more phones on the package (up to four), the more you save. If you purchase a full-cruise package, a discount is also available. If you just want to text, email, check social media, and browse the internet, the Basic Internet package will do the trick! If you just need basic texting and have an iPhone, iMessaging using the DCL-Guest Wi-Fi should work. Another option for texting friends and family is to download WhatsApp.
