    Hello again Moms~ We have ADR at parks before they open. What "proof" do we need to show to gain early entrance or do we just give our name? Also, we have never attended "rope drop" before. What does that entail?

    Hi Lynne!

    You are in for a treat!! I love early morning dining reservations that let us enter the parks before official opening time! It feels like we're a VIP with special access to a nearly deserted park!

    To gain entrance, you'll want to find the gate that is marked for early entrance. Typically, there will be a Cast Member there with a clip board and list of dining reservations. If you have any trouble, just ask any Cast Member and they will direct you. They will need your name to check your dining time and location. I always carry my reservation number as well - you never know if you'll need it (one time my last name was misspelled on a dining reservation and having the confirmation really helped!).

    Rope drop is the opening ceremony for the park each day. The opening shows vary from park to park. If you'd like to attend them, I would recommend being at the park about 30 minutes before park opening time. In some cases, you may be allowed to enter the park and watch a show that occurs inside the park (Hollywood Studios for example) and in other cases, you'll stay outside the gates and watch a show from there (Magic Kingdom).
