Welcome, Kathy!
I’m excited to see that you’re planning a
Walt Disney World Resort vacation for this spring, and that you’re purchasing Disney Gift Cards for this trip. Buying gift cards in advance is a great way to spread out vacation expenses and to plan ahead! I’m happy to share a few ways to use these cards digitally on your upcoming vacation.
Typically, when you purchase a Disney Gift Card electronically, as in from
shopDisney.com or
Disneygiftcard.com, the eGift will be sent to your designated email address. That email will contain an image of the fun gift card design you selected, a barcode, the Identification Number, and the EAN. It should also have an “Add to Apple Wallet” and an “Add to Google Wallet” icon at the bottom of the email. If you open the email on your mobile device, you can then click that icon and your smartphone will initiate the quick, intuitive process to add this card and value to your Apple Wallet.
There are some delivery methods from vendors, such as Costco, that do not send the Disney eGift Card with an “Add to Apple Wallet” or “Add to Google Wallet” icon, but there is a way to still add it to your digital wallet, Kathy. Please see the
details I recently shared with another Guest, specific to Costco-purchased digital gift cards. If you already have an eGift card in your Apple Wallet, you can also
combine values of other cards onto that one at Disneygiftcards.com to easily use one primary gift card from your Apple Wallet.
You may always print the eGift card, no matter how it was acquired, and present for payment at
all four theme parks, resorts, and
Disney Springs shops. Simply print the email and be sure the barcode is visible on the paper as well as the Identification Number and EAN, just in case. I’ve done this before and it’s a quick transaction for payment but be sure to secure that paper in your park bag so that it isn’t lost. You may also present the email showing the barcode on your phone as a method of payment; I often take a screenshot of this email and save a shortcut to it on my home screen for ease of use throughout the day rather than searching and scrolling for my email at the time of payment. You may also present the printout or email to the front desk at your
Disney Resorts Collection hotel. They can apply the value to your room folio, which will be applied to the running balance you’ve charged to the room throughout your stay. This is another easy way to use your gift card but continue to
quickly scan your MagicBand or MagicBand+ throughout the day for charging to your resort room account.
Whichever method you choose, I hope this helps you plan your expenses in advance and have an efficient day in the parks as you scan and go for each transaction! I love using my digital tools on a Disney vacation, and I know you will too.
Please let us know how else we can help you make the most of this springtime visit – we love to help!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Amy
