My 4 yr old and I are visiting mid April for the 1st time. Do I bring my nice digital camera in my backpack or opt for disposable one? Will it may be hard for me to keep up with my son & take pictures? What about taking the camera on kiddie rides?

I am a big photographer. i always bring my Canon digital SLR with me to Disney World. I find that the quality of the photos taken by disposable camera is unacceptable to me.

You can take your camera with you on every ride. My only concern is that it remain protected on water-related rides, specifically the Kali River Rapids at the Animal Kingdom and, to a lesser extent on Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom. For these attractions, just make sure that your camera is protected from getting wet. Even a plastic shopping bag will do the trick.

Some of my best WDW photos have been taken on rides. I have a great one of my daughter's screaming face as we round a turn on Big Thunder Mountain. Other classics are the kids riding on the Carousel and on the Small World attraction. There are a few experiences at WDW where cameras are not allowed. This will always be stated in advance of the attraction or performance. This prohibition is usually because a flash would somehow distract a performer or otherwise spoil the "magic."

As far as keeping up with your son, that depends on his personality. I never have any problems photographing my girls at WDW and keeping up with them, but your son might be faster than my daughters. If you are concerned about him running off, you could always keep your son next to you by having the two of you photographed together by the many Disney PhotoPass photographers that are all over the parks.

Hope you get some great shots.
