Hey there! Hi there, Ruby! You must be so excited for your daughter.
Disney Imagination Campus is absolutely magical. Getting my kids up in the morning might be easier if their school was on the Imagination Campus.
I know the feeling of being the one who plans everything and suddenly letting your teens out on their own. So much you just know how to do is in their hands... They should have greeting cards for moments like these.
Let's start with the
My Disney Experience app. If you are still managing her account and activity on the app, it means she does not have her own
MyDisney account. Without an account, she can only access functions like checking wait times and using the map. She will need an account and the app to access more functions, like mobile food ordering. I recently changed my teens' accounts so they could see our plans, like dining reservations and
Lightning Lane return times, and join a Virtual Queue when they were available.
Converting her account is pretty easy. Open "
My Friends & Family" on the website and find her under "Guests You Manage." Select "Manage" and "Invite" to allow her to access and manage the account. You will need the email address she would like to use. She will get an email to accept the account and then
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo! Everything linked to her under your managed account will be
automagically transferred to this profile.
Although she is 17, she still cannot do a few things. For example, you must be 18 to make a
dining reservation online or on the app or to purchase and manage Lightning Lane passes. Disney Imagination Campus's post "
How to Purchase Lightning Lane Passes for Your Youth Group" has many great tips that may be helpful. When I had the chance to meet with Cast Members with the Imagination Campus, they encouraged parents to speak with the group organizers to know their plans and how they are setting up groups for time in the theme parks.
She does have a few options for making purchases at
Walt Disney World Resort. If the front desk at her
Disney Resorts Collection hotel has set up charging privileges for her
MagicBand+, she should be able to use it to charge purchases back to the resort bill. I would ask the group coordinator if they have plans to make this possible or if she can go to the desk and ask to set this up. As a minor, she can't store payment methods in her MyDisney account. She can make purchases on the app but will need to enter the credit or
Disney Gift Card information each time.
Ruby, I know this is a lot of information about what a 17-year-old can and can't do. If you have any follow-up questions, you can
ask me directly to continue this conversation. You are also always welcome to ask the amazing
planDisney team questions about Disney destinations.
Thinking of the Happiest Things!
