Hi Brandonia!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I am so happy you've stopped by to ask a question about visiting
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park and the amazing Pandora~The World of Avatar. This new land is so beautiful and probably one of my children's favorite places in all of Walt Disney World. I am happy to share my experience with you.
I have a 7 year old son who is on the Autism spectrum who is also a creature of habit who does not do well with loud noises. I can understand your concern for your own son. My 7 year old loves thrills so I was not concerned with that part of
Avatar Flight of Passage for him, however I was concerned that he would be by himself on the ride vehicle and that the special effects and sounds may affect him. I was lucky and he loved every second of it, but was very hesitant to board the ride vehicle without me on it with him. I suggest taking your son on
Soarin' Around the World and see how he does with the motion and sounds of that ride. If he does okay with that and is a thrill seeker he should be okay on Avatar Flight of Passage. Please know that Avatar Flight of Passage is more intense than Soarin' Around the World and has many sudden drops and turns. If you don't think he would enjoy that I would suggest waiting a year or two longer before you ride.
I hope this has helped, Brandonia. If you think of anything else we can assist you with, please let us know. Lending a helping hand to fellow Guests is what we enjoy most.
Dream as Dreamers Do,
Jen
