We want to take our 4 yr old son to a character breakfast/dinner on 1st trip to DW in Nov 09. He loves Mickey and crew. Problem is that he has severe food allergies. He can only eat five foods. What are our best options? Thanks.

Hi, Christine!  Your best bet is to choose the restaurant you want to go to, and when you make your advanced dining reservation, let them know that your son has severe food allergies.  I always like to call 48 hours before my reservation to remind them of the special dietary needs.

When you check in at the podium, you can mention again that you have specific dietary requirements, and a chef will come to talk to you.  If you are going to go to Chef Mickey's or another character buffet, they will usually walk through the buffet with you and let you know what foods will work with the dietary restrictions.

In my experience, the Walt Disney World restaurants are among the best at working with people with food allergies and special dietary needs.  I would feel very comfortable in booking your reservations and then working with the chefs to come up with foods that will be safe for your little one.  Just keep reminding people every step of the way, and based on my history with food issues, they will do all they can to make sure you have a happy dining experience.
