    We have 1.5 yr old who will sleep only in her own bed at home. I've reserved a suite in case she refuses to sleep for most of the night - to have an extra room for the others. Any suggestions for sleeping arrangements in standard resort rooms?

    Hi, Trina!  Wow, this is a tough situation!  We have almost always had kids trying to get into bed with us - especially on vacation - but I do have one independent little one who liked a little privacy!  I don't know if this will work for you, but when she was very young - under two - I would prop her in her car seat, and park the car seat inside the bath tub when it was bedtime for her.  If I let her fall asleep in the peace and quiet of her own "room", I could then move her to a regular bed for the rest of the night.  You can request bed rails for the bed your one year old will sleep in if she won't sleep in a pack and play.

    Another thing you could try in a standard hotel room would be partitioning the room off.  My girlfriend has a very modest 9 year old daughter and a young son.  She brings those removable hooks and a shower curtain with her when she travels, and puts the shower curtain up between the two beds at night and for changing in the morning.  Before they go out for the day, she takes the curtain down so as not to interfere with housekeeping.  That might work to convince your little one that she's in her own room.

    I hope you find something that makes you all comfortable!  I know in my house we have a saying - if the baby ain't happy, nobody's happy - especially Mama!!  I'm sure a long, sleepless night with your little one won't make for a very magical vacation for you!
