My 11 yr old daughter has a metabolic disorder, is on a lower protein diet and meds and because of this is also a picky eater. We are visting disney at christmas, eating in a lot of signature restaurants. Will she will be able to order from the kids menu?

Hi, Jane!  Following my gastric bypass surgery, I had a hard time eating a full meal at Walt Disney World.  Because I was supposed to make sure I had enough protein each day, The adult portions were always too big, so on a whim, I asked about ordering a child's meal, knowing that the chicken nuggets or tenders would be about the right size for my altered appetite.  I have never been turned down in my request at any of the restaurants we've dined in.

When you call and make dining reservations, you can also let them know that you have someone with special dietary needs.  In most cases, the restaurant has sent the chef to my table to let me know what they could do to accommodate my dietary needs.  Give them as much notice as you can if you are making reservations (which you can do by calling 407-WDW-DINE), but at least 48 hours.

Check out some of the appetizers as well as the children's menu.  I've found I can often times order from the appetizer menu instead of a regular meal.

    Have a great vacation!
