Lissa,
Disney offers three choices for their dining packages: Quick-service, Basic dining, and Deluxe dining. Since you specifically mention table service meals I'm guessing you don't mean the quick service package so I'll skip over that one. With Basic dining you get one quick service, one table service, and one snack per person per night, and with deluxe dining you get 3 dining and 2 snack credits per person per night, to be used on quick or table service, however you choose.
Quick service locations do not generally have much of a kids meal selection. Typically you'll find 2 or 3 choices along the lines of mac-n-cheese, pizza, Uncrustables sandwich, etc. My daughters are younger (the oldest is 6) but this is often an issue for us as well because they are sophisticated eaters.
At table service restaurants the kids menus vary hugely between dining locations, but there are almost always more 'adult' choices on the menu. For example, on a recent visit to Jiko my girls were able to order steak and fish off of the child's menu.
However, no matter where you dine the children's menu does tend to be heavily slanted toward young child options. Unfortunately this is not always a good fit for older children or more adventurous eaters. However, I can say from experience that you can indeed find meals that your child will enjoy, it just takes a bit of research. I suggest that you visit
www.allears.net and click on 'dining', then 'the menus' and look over each restaurant to see what would work for your family, and make your reservations accordingly.
Have a great vacation!
