Welcome back, Marie, to planDisney! Keep those questions coming because we love nothing more than helping Guests plan their best vacations ever. This is especially true when it means helping you capture those "core memories," just like in
Inside Out, that you’ll treasure long after your trip is over!
If you’ve booked a vacation package that includes
Memory Maker, you’ll be able to activate it once you’ve had your first photo taken through the service. Whether it’s an on-ride photo or one taken by a talented
Disney PhotoPass Photographer, you can activate it in the
My Disney Experience mobile app. Head to the main menu by clicking the three horizontal lines (≡) in the bottom right-hand corner, then scroll down until you see “Photo Gallery.” Once you’ve selected that, tap on a photo and follow the prompts to activate Memory Maker. It’s a simple way to capture the moments that define your trip, much like how the emotions help shape and preserve Riley’s memories.
You’ll want to make sure
Bluetooth access is enabled for the app so that when you're on a ride that offers an on-ride photo, it links directly to your account. Of course, a
Disney Band connected to your account will take care of this as well, but it’s good to know you have options. Think of it like everything working seamlessly at the control panel, so those moments show up exactly where they’re supposed to without you having to think twice. I was recently at the resort and got to experience the newly enhanced
Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin at
Magic Kingdom Park. I was delighted to see that the photo from that experience now includes your scores! Previously, I was always scrambling to take out my phone at the end to snap a picture of the scoreboard. Now it’s all right there!
While not all photographers will have this option, be sure to ask if they offer any Magic Shots at the location where you’re taking a picture. These unexpected extras have a way of turning a simple photo into something filled with a little more personality and emotion, almost like a new feeling joining the mix. On my most recent visit, my good friend
Elaine and I were delighted to see a photo of us in front of
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure that included Tiana herself! And at the end of
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, my husband and I were surprised to see the ocean giving us a high-five! Just keep in mind that experiences may vary, but there’s usually a little extra magic waiting for you at some PhotoPass locations.
Marie, get ready for a wonderful vacation filled with photos that will help you relive that magical feeling for years to come. If you have any other questions,
feel free to reach out again!
Take her to the moon for me,
Matt
