My youngest daughter will be 4 on March 20 and we will be visiting the Magic Kingdom for her birhtday. We have 6 children and have never seen opening cermonies. We really want to be part of it!! How do you get chosen to be in the parade or OC?

Hi, Jayme! Thanks for visiting us here on the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Arriving in time for park opening (also known as "rope drop") at Magic Kingdom is definitely a fun experience! Not only do you get to enjoy the Magic Kingdom Welcome Show, you'll be among the first guests to enter the park on that particular day. Arriving early also affords you the benefit of experiencing your favorite attractions first thing in the morning before the park becomes crowded.

While there are no guarantees that your family will be chosen to participate in the Magic Kingdom Welcome Show or the Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade, there are a few things you can do which may increase your chances. The Magic Kingdom Welcome Show usually begins about 10 minutes prior to the scheduled park opening time (at 8:50 AM if opening is 9:00 AM), but I suggest you arrive 30-45 minutes in advance because, in this case, the early bird really does get the worm! Also, it certainly doesn't hurt to show your genuine enthusiasm and excitement. Cast Members will be scouting around for families to choose, so be sure to strike up a conversation with them as you are waiting for the park to open.

Wishing your daughter a magical birthday celebration! Please stop by again to ask any additional planning questions - I would be happy to help!
