What is the youngest age you would recommend taking a small child?

Never too young for Disney is our family's motto!  I wouldn't take a brand-new baby just because of heat, sun and germ concerns, but we've taken our daughters as infants starting around 3 months old.

Disney parks are so incredibly family friendly that even a baby can experience most of the rides and attractions, so our daughters could hop on (ok, be carried on) Dumbo or Peter Pan right along with the rest of the family.  Now if your question is more about what age is best for a child to really 'experience' Disney, that depends.  I think once your child knows a few characters they will be completely enthralled.

In my opinion, taking your kids when they are very small is one of the best times to make a trip.  The magic is all so very real to them when they are little, and that creates heartwarming memories for you and magical experiences for them.  They might not be overjoyed to meet the REAL Cinderella as a 'tween like they would as a pre-schooler.

One of my daughters is a huge Little Einsteins fan, and on our last visit she had seen three of the four characters.  We were in line for a meet and greet, and she was anxiously awaiting her chance to see Quincy.  When her turn came she was so overcome with emotion that her mouth dropped open, her eyes were wide, and tears started to form.  She stood gaping at him in awe for a few moments (long enough to get some adorable pictures), and then ran into his arms with a squeal of delight.  It was one of the best moments of our trip, and one I would have missed if I'd waited to vist when she was older.
