Many years ago, we purchased refillable drink mugs and remember being told they would be good for lifetime use. How do we verify they are, indeed, good for a lifetime?

Greetings Kendra and welcome back to planDisney!

Sounds like you have a resort-refillable mug that you purchased on a previous trip, and you still have it in a place of honor in your kitchen cabinet!  Our family does the same thing with the family of mugs that reside in our kitchen.  We just added a new one yesterday at a local thrift store and will add a couple of more on our trip next week to participate in the runDisney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Kendra, the mugs are valid for the length of your resort stay, up to 14 days. Each mug has an RFID chip on the bottom, and once your stay ends, the mug is no longer active for refills.

This is probably not the answer you were looking for, but when you do arrive for your trip in June, I highly recommend purchasing a new mug, so you’ll be able to enjoy those self-service unlimited refills at any Disney Resort’s Quick-Service dining locations. There’s always something to enjoy from soft drinks to coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

We always take our mugs with us to the theme parks for ice water during the day and it allows us to have a quick fill-up when we arrive back at our resort, so we don’t have to go back to the room and get our mugs!

Kendra, I have been shouting to the rooftops that the mugs are great for everyday use at home and they should all have friends, so make sure when you see a lonely one at a thrift store or garage sale to pick one up to take home!

Summer is a great time to get a refillable mug at Walt Disney World, and it’s also Cool KIDS’ SUMMER!  Seize this summer with some of your favorite Characters across Walt Disney World Resort, where the whole family can feel like kids together! And don’t forget to enjoy a Mickey Bar or two!

    Have a magical trip, Kendra!
