Hi Amy!
I am so sorry to hear about your son's injury! I hope that he is feeling better and on the mend. Wearing a cast is not fun, especially when you are trying to enjoy swimming, sliding, and other water park activities!
The most important aspect of understanding if your son can ride the water slides at Typhoon Lagoon would be the advice of his doctor. Given that he is wearing a cast on his forearm, I would hate for him to get injured further on the slides or attractions. Some of the larger slides may need to be skipped due to the motion. Of course, the doctor knows best, so I can't answer that aspect of the question.
If the doctor feels that it's safe, the next thing I would recommend is purchasing a plastic sleeve that will cover the cast. Even if the cast is waterproof, water could get inside the cotton lining, which would be uncomfortable. There is not an
official rule posted on the Walt Disney World website that restricts riding a water slide while wearing a cast. I also have not seen anyone wearing a cast get turned away from a water slide.
When you visit
Typhoon Lagoon, make sure to enjoy some of the special treats, such as a root beer float from
Happy Landings Ice Cream!
I hope you have a magical vacation! All of us here at
planDisney wish your son a swift recovery!
Magically,
Stacy
