Our use year starts in December, I banked my use year, but now we want to use those points, can I only use 50% of the banked points to make my reservation in 2022?

    Hello Gredel!

Welcome Home and welcome to planDisney! I’m always happy to see a fellow Disney Vacation Club Member stop by with their question. Becoming Disney Vacation Club Members was one of the very best things we have done as a family, and I love chatting about it with fellow Members. Let me see if I can help you figure out your Vacation Points situation.

If I am understanding correctly, it sounds like you banked your December 2020 Vacation Points into 2021. Then you would like to travel in April 2022. Sometimes December Use Years can be a little confusing, but if I understood what you said, you should be able to use all those points.

If you banked your December 2020 Vacation Points into 2021, that means they can be used to travel from December 1, 2021, until November 30, 2022. So if you were hoping to travel in April 2022, you should be able to use all your banked 2020 Vacation Points and your regular 2021 Vacation Points to travel anytime between December 2021 and November 2022. There is not a 50% limit on using banked Vacation Points at this time.

In case I didn’t understand your scenario correctly, I do want to go over a few things that will hopefully help you figure it out, or help you understand your Vacation Points better in the future.

First, know that once Vacation Points are banked, they must be used in the Use Year they were banked into. They cannot be borrowed back to their original Use Year, and they cannot be banked a second time into the next Use Year.

I think the 50% question has to do with the current limit on using borrowed Vacation Points. While you can use all of the Vacation Points you have banked, currently, Members looking to book a reservation can only borrow a maximum of 50% of their next Use Year’s Points. If you were wanting to travel this summer, for example, you would not be able to retrieve your banked 2020 Vacation Points because banked Vacation Points cannot be moved back. You could borrow up to 50% of your upcoming 2021 Vacation Points if you wanted to.

I hope that helps explain it better, and if you were planning to travel in 2022, you should be good to go and use all of those Vacation Points! Sending you pixie dust for that perfect reservation! April 2022 will be here soon, so I recommend you book your Home Resort as soon as you hit the 11-month mark!
