This year my parents and my family stayed at POR with connecting rooms. For 2009 we'd like to try a two bedroom suite. I read Ft Wilderness Villas have a boat launch to MK. Is that true? Also we're not DVC members - can we still stay there?

First things first -- some of the names of the resorts at WDW can be a bit confusing. I want to make sure that when you call 407-W-DISNEY for rates and reservation information that you ask for the right thing. Fort Wilderness is a campground. There are cabins and campsites for rent there. I believe what you're interested in is the Villas at Wilderness Lodge. These are adjacent to and share facilities with the deluxe Wilderness Lodge resort.

In answer to your questions, yes there is a boat that leaves from the dock at the Wilderness Lodge and takes guests to the Magic Kingdom. This is the primary mode of transport to the MK from the Wilderness Lodge (and Villas). There is only bus service in the event of poor weather conditions. I have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge villas many times; it's my Disney Vacation Club home resort. The boat is a very relaxing way to travel; it gives the trip a real vacationy feel.

DVC members do get first shot at reservations for the villa-style rooms at WDW, but they are also available for rental by regular WDW guests as well. For availability, call the reservation number above. I can't say enough good things about the two bedroom villas. The amount of space available there makes for an extraordinarily pleasant stay. They're particularly great for multi-generational families where you want to be together, but everyone also needs a bit of personal space.
