my 12 year old son will not eat off of the adult menue. we bought him a disney dinning plan but are concerned that he will not be able to order off of the kids menue. will my 12 year old son be able to order off of the kids menue?

Hi Amber! I have one of those picky 12-year-old sons myself!  My son loves that he is considered an "adult" at Walt Disney World, but he doesn't want any part of the food on the adult menu! While you're not allowed to purchase a child's dining plan for kids over 9, your twelve-year-old is welcome to order his meals from the kids' menu if nothing on the adult menu appeals to him. My son's never had a problem ordering from the children's menus at Disney. In fact, on our trips, some restaurants gave him an adult-sized portion of the children's entree, and others were able to make him a grilled cheese sandwich upon request, even though that item wasn't on the menu. Disney is very accommodating to kids and picky eaters.

When you're on the Disney Dining Plan, you don't get the most bang for your buck by using adult credits to purchase children's meals; for this reason, some people choose to pay for the child's meal out-of-pocket and save the adult meal credit to be used later by someone else in the family.

Have a magical vacation! Please don't hesitate to visit us again here at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! We'd love to help!
