Hi, I have a 2 year old who refuses to wear a mask. We would like to travel to Disney World in January. Although we have been working with him to wear a mask, I worry that he will not wear one by then. Are there any exceptions to the mask mandate?

    Welcome to planDisney, Melinda!

You and I are in the exact same position. I have been trying for what feels like months to get my 2-year-old to wear a mask. She will happily wear one for around 5 minutes and then totally refuse.

As you know, currently every person 2-years of age and older must wear an approved face-covering in all indoor locations, indoor attractions, and on while Disney transportation. Melinda, there is no exemption to this policy, and the policy is subject to change at any time. You can check the latest guidelines on the Walt Disney World Resort website.

I can tell you that I have friends who have worked with their little ones with fabulous results by having their child's favorite stuffed animal wear a mask, rewarding good behavior with special treats and snacks, and consistently having their child wear face masks when out of the house.

My current thought process is that I do not want to be stressing about face masks by the time our vacation rolls around, so I scheduled our next trip for March. I am hoping when my daughter is a little closer to 3, she will keep one on without a fight.

I know that this isn't quite the answer that you were looking for, Melinda, but know that you are not alone.

    Good luck!
