Hi! If my 9 year old participates in a runDisney 5k and is not able to keep up with the 16 mph pace, will he NOT get a medal? I saw that Disney had added that requirement to the 5k, but wasn't sure if it applied to kids too. Thanks!

    Hi Alisha!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm excited for your kiddo to get the chance to proudly rock his runDisney medal!

The pacing requirement is measured from the last runner starting the race and is measured at 16 minutes per mile for the races that are timed, this includes the 10K, Half Marathon and Full Marathon distances. The pacing requirement is not applicable for the 5K because this race is not timed. In the event something was to happen and your son is unable to finish the race, he would still able to collect his medal. The only time participants are not able to receive a medal is if it is apart of a challenge. For example, part of Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend- The Dark Side there is the First Order Challenge. For this the runner must complete the Star Wars 10K and the Star Wars Half Marathon- The Dark Side. If the participant was swept from the half marathon distance, they would be offered the medal for the half marathon, but they wouldn't be able to collect the challenge medal.

Please let me know if you have any other questions and best of luck to y'all!
