Hi. My 13 year old isn't the most adventurous eater, but is on the adult dining plan. Will she be able to order off of either menu? Some of the adult selections she is fine with, while others (eg. Akershsus), not so much. Thanks!

Hi, Nancy!  Ah, how clearly I remember the day my now 12 year old daughter looked at me at Akershus and said, "Mom, I'll eat a lotta things, but I am not eating something called Clot Cakes!"  Of course, she meant the Norwegian traditional Kjottekake, a dish that is really nothing more than meatballs in brown gravy.  That is not my most adventurous eater.

I have always found the culinary staff at Walt Disney World to be quite helpful when trying to accommodate the needs of picky eaters.  I think they understand that some items on an adult menu may not appeal to a younger palate, especially when the adult dining plan begins when you are 10 years old.

Let someone know when you arrive that there isn't anything on the menu your child can eat, and they can make some adaptations for you.  I've had restaurants offer me a more adult sized portion of a kid's menu meal, and I've had them offer to make something without a sauce on it or with a different side dish.

Your experience may vary from restaurant to restaurant, but do let them know as soon as you've had a chance to look at the menu if there is going to be a special request.  As I said, usually, they can adapt a dish to something even the most finicky eater will enjoy.

Have a great vacation, and thank you so much for your question!
