My 11 year old grandson is going to disney in a couple of weeks. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of something he could do for a special day there. He isn't into the pirate thing.

Hi Elas! I have an eleven-year-old son, so I can definitely help you out with some ideas! My son really enjoys the thrill rides at Walt Disney World, so a day spent riding the Rock'n'Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain at Magic Kingdom, and Test Track and The Sum of All Thrills at Epcot would be his idea of a great time. However, if you want to add some extra-special activities, here are a few that might appeal to eleven-year-old boys:
    • DisneyQuest: This indoor interactive theme park at Downtown Disney is filled with virtual-reality rides and games -- you can even design your own roller coaster and then take a ride on it! If your grandson likes video games, he'll love DisneyQuest!
    • Ridemakerz: At this Downtown Disney store, your grandson can build custom remote-controlled toy race cars. Even my husband had fun building a car here!
    • Wild Africa Trek: If your grandson loves animals and adventure, this VIP safari in the Animal Kingdom park will give him lots of both!
    • SeaRaycers: Visit one of the Disney resort marinas to rent these personal watercraft and zip around the lagoons and lakes!
If you want to end your day with a special meal, consider the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue at the Fort Wilderness. Even my sometimes surly tween couldn't stop laughing at the corny jokes in this vaudeville-style show!

Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! We're always happy to help!
