I have 2 and 4 year old girls. We are visiting Disney for the first time. I have already scheduled a breakfast at Cape May, and lunches at CRT and Akershus (princess lunch). I want to plan two non character dinners, any suggestions?

    David,

I have 3 young daughters myself so this is familiar territory for me!

I am particularly fond of restaurants that keep my children entertained so I can eat! Therefore, I highly recommend 'Ohana (in the Polynesian Resort) and Whispering Canyon Cafe (in the Wilderness Lodge).

For dinner the meal is served family style and is all you can eat.  Huge skewers of meat are roasted in an open fire kitchen, which is interesting to watch.  You will also find a strolling ukelele player, coconut races, hula hoop contests, and hula dancing for the kids.  Between the fantastic food and the built-in fun and games, my daughters are always happy to eat at 'Ohana.

The Whispering Canyon Cafe serves lunch and dinner, and they do it in their signature rowdy style.  I highly recommend the skillet meal, but really everything we've tried there is good.  This is not a restaurant for the particularly shy or easily embarrassed, but if you come prepared to play along and armed with a sense of humor, you're bound to have a good time.  Be sure to ask for extra ketchup!
