My 7 year old daughter has cerebral palsy and uses a walker primarily to get around. I saw that wheelchairs are available for rent but are they throughout the parks or just 1 place? Should I get one early even though she may not use it until later?

    Hi Heather,

There are wheelchairs available to rent at one location at the front of each park at the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Disney's Hollywood Studios. At Epcot, wheelchairs are available at the front of the park and at the International Gateway in the World Showcase. During most times of the year, wheelchairs are available throughout the day. However, at very busy times of the year, there is a small possibility that they may sell out for the day.

There is A LOT of walking during a typical WDW vacation. Many seven year olds without medical challenges are wiped out at the end of a touring day. I would encourage you to consider renting a wheelchair for the length of your stay. There are a number of independent agencies that rent mobility equipment in the Orlando area, most will pick up and deliver to any Disney hotel. You can run a quick Google search to find out your options, but one popular company is walkermobility.com.  You may also want to purchase the book Passporter's Open Mouse for Walt Disney World. it's available through Amazon and other large bookseller, and gives tips on how to have the best possible Disney vacation with any medical challenge.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know how else we can help.
