My 16 year old cousin and I are planning a trip to WDW for May 2016. I was wondering if we could use my aunts dvc points to pay for the hotel since she wouldn't be coming and I would have to check in since my cousin isn't old enough (I will be 20)

    Hi Bailey!

How exciting to take a cousins trip to Walt Disney World! You should not have any difficulty if your aunt would like to use her Disney Vacation Club Membership to gift you with a room. Your aunt is able to make reservations for her personal guests, and she does not have to be staying in the room herself. She can just make a reservation in your name and your cousin’s name.

Disney Vacation Club Villas are very popular, and they do book quickly. If you are considering a trip in the spring, I would have your aunt book you a room as soon as possible for the best availability. You can always change the reservation later if needed. As long as the room is canceled more than 30 days in advance, there is no penalty and all of your aunt’s Vacation Points would be returned to her account. I often recommend booking at least something, rather than waiting. It is easier to cancel something you decide you don’t need, than to search for something that is already booked!

I hope you and your cousin have a magical and unforgettable Walt Disney World vacation. Please come back and visit us on the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your questions as you plan your trip!
