Welcome to planDisney, Kenny!
The answer to the question "Do you want to go to Walt Disney World this weekend?" should always be yes!! The parks and resorts are extra magical during the
holiday season with beautiful decorations and
yummy holiday treats. You won't run out of things to do and see!
One thing you should be aware of before you head to Orlando is that
theme park reservations are required in addition to
admission in order to visit a theme park. I highly recommend checking the
Theme Park Reservation Availability Calendar. I know that some parks are unavailable on several upcoming dates this month. If the park you'd like to visit has availability, great! Feel free to write us back and let us know which park(s) you plan to visit and we'll be happy to give you suggestions on what to do.
I thought you might like some ideas on what to do outside of the theme parks. A fun thing to do is
character dining at one of the Disney Resorts Collection hotels. Two great options are Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort and Breakfast a la Art at Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera. Dining reservations may be made up to 60 days in advance and these are both very popular locations, so you might have a hard time finding availability just now -- but don't fret! Other Guests' plans change all the time. I often see reservation times pop up a day or two prior to my visit, or even same-day availability. You could also try the
walk-up waitlist feature in the My Disney Experience mobile app. After enjoying your meal, take a tour of some Disney Resort Hotels via monorail or the Disney Skyliner. The Christmas decorations are amazing and different at every resort! Another idea is brunch at
Boma - Flavors of Africa at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Enjoy a fantastic meal, and spend some time checking out all the animals that roam the savannas at the Lodge.
Head over to Disney Springs to enjoy the
Christmas Tree Stroll and meet Santa. The best part is, you can hold your place in line to meet Kris Kringle by joining the
Virtual Queue. Enjoy shopping, dining, and hunting all the Christmas trees while you wait for your turn.
I have another suggestion you might enjoy. Give Kids The World Village is a wonderful organization that provides magical vacations to critically ill children and their families. This season, Give Kids The World is once again hosting its Night of a Million Lights fundraiser. In addition to sparkling light displays, there is festive entertainment, fun photo opportunities, and holiday treats. I was fortunate to attend this event a couple of years ago and found it both magical and meaningful. If you are interested in this event, just type "Night of a Million Lights" into your search engine for more information.
Best wishes on your magical getaway! If you have any additional questions or would like more suggestions, please feel free to stop by and see us here at planDisney again anytime. We are always happy to help.
