With a 4 and 5 year old, would it be a better, more convenient option to drive your car from Kidani Village villas to MK, rather than the hour long bus commute? How long does it take, door to door? Thank you :)

    Hi Lyza!

We love staying at Disney’s Kidani Village. It is my family’s favorite resort and I hope your kids are going to enjoy it as much as mine do! I often say that at home I am a bus driver, so on vacation I enjoy letting Disney do the driving. Whether or not to take a car to the theme parks seems to be personal preference. Since I have lived in big cities and am accustomed to public transportation, and since, as previously mentioned my minivan and I log a lot of miles at home, on vacation I prefer to use Disney transportation. For families who really like to be able to go where they want to go, when they want to go, or who find waiting for a bus to be tiresome, having your own vehicle can make your vacation more enjoyable.

When traveling from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas to a theme park, Guests at Kidani Village will be picked up first. Then the bus will pick up additional guests at Jambo House before heading to the park. For Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, driving your vehicle may be a faster option since you won’t have to wait for the bus to arrive to pick you up.

For the Magic Kingdom however, I strongly recommend using the bus. I have personally timed the bus ride from Jambo House to the bus stop at the front of the Magic Kingdom to be approximately 20 minutes. If you drive, you must make a similar 15-20 minute journey, park in the Magic Kingdom Parking Lot then walk or take the tram to the Ticket and Transportation Center. Once at the Ticket and Transportation Center you will need to use either the Monorail or ferry to get to the gates of the Magic Kingdom. This process from parking your car to arriving at the Magic Kingdom can actually take 20-30 minutes. The bus will almost always be a faster option.

I hope this is helpful, let me know if you have additional questions as you get ready for your trip.

    Happy Planning!
