Hello there, Nancy! Thank you for stopping by planDisney on your way to Walt Disney World Resort. Your magical vacation starts soon, so let's look at how you can utilize MagicBands during your trip.
Your 2020 band is probably the second generation of
MagicBands. These are not rechargeable, and the batteries are designed to last about 3 years. I've heard guests say that their bands of similar age still allow them to scan into theme parks and Disney Resort Hotel rooms, but
many features, such as linking to the Disney PhotoPass service, might be compromised after a few years.
I suggest you bring it along and give it a try! Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? As a backup, you can set up
Disney MagicMobile Service on your phone. This tool turns your phone into a theme park ticket, Lightning Lane scanner, and more.
If your older-generation band has bitten the dust, I can't think of a better reason to treat yourself to a new MagicBand+. You can purchase these little beauties at your Disney Resort Hotel and inside many shops at the theme parks. The designs are phenomenal, and the haptics and lights make these new bands a party on your wrist! The best part is that they come with a charger so you can keep that pixie dust at full bars.
Whatever MagicBand you use, be sure it's
linked to your My Disney Experience account for a seamless experience. Feel free to contact the
App and MagicBand Support line with any questions.
Designs will vary by location, but feel free to get some ideas of what might be available by checking out the online
Disney Store. My favorite MagicBand+ features a colorful 2023 design. That's the year I first served as a planDisney panelist!
Nancy, I hope your visit is full of magic and memories. And here's hoping your MagicBand comes through for you! Feel free to ask us anything here at
planDisney.
Magic awaits,
Elaine
