Wow!!! First of all great panel!!!! We are heading to WDW Jan or Feb. It will be wife, daughter5 and I. First time for all. Torn between the mod resorts. Wondering if any have balconies/patios and any suggestions on which one for first trip??? Thanks

None of the moderate resorts have rooms with balconies. The moderates are configured in the style of motels, with doors that open to the outside world (rather than like a hotel, with doors that open to an interior hallway). The moderates don't really have patios either, but if you request a ground floor room, you can sort of make your own patio by placing a chair from the room outside your door for a bit while you enjoy the sunshine.

As for a recommendation for a first moderate ... I'll tell you that I would avoid Coronado Springs. There are some benefits to this resort (decent restaurant) but it is large and tends to cater to a more adult/convention crowd that the other moderates. It just doesn't seem as magical or friendly to me as the other moderates.

The Caribbean Beach resort and both Port Orleans resorts are fine. Some of the rooms at CB have been recently renovated and rethemed. If your daughter is a pirate or Finding Nemo fan, I would ask about those rooms.

My personal favorite moderate is the Port Orleans French Quarter. This is the smallest and most manageable of the moderate hotels. The grounds are gorgeous and the pools are lots of fun for kids. As an added bonus, you're just a ten minute walk away from Port Orleans Riverside resort and can also use the restaurants and pools there.

    Have a great trip!
