Is it worth it to get to Disneyland before they open?

    Hello, Diana! Welcome to planDisney

I see you are considering arriving early at the Disneyland Resort before the Theme Parks open. This is commonly referred to as "rope-dropping." This is one of my favorite ways to maximize my day at the parks! Not only will you get a head start on your day, but you will also find lower-than-normal wait times for most attractions.

Below are a few tips for how to rope-drop at the parks:

    • Security opens at 7:00 a.m. Take into account the time that it will take to arrive at the resort, park (if you're driving in the morning), and get to security. I often like to arrive at security anywhere from 10-30 minutes before they start operating.
    • After security, you will walk to the main entrance of the park you are visiting. Each park begins scanning Guests into the parks around 7:30 a.m. Don't forget to have a Park Reservation for the date and park you wish to enter!
    • Lastly, you will wait at the roped-off section of the area you plan to enter once the park begins operating, which is normally at 8:00 a.m.
Diana, will you be staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel? If so, you can take advantage of Early Entry. Each day, either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park will open earlier at 7:30 a.m. for Guests of the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort.

I hope you find this helpful, Diana. If you can, I highly recommend you try rope-dropping at least once. I wish you the happiest visit to The Happiest Place on Earth!

    Your Pal,
    Alejandra
