I am worried about heavy rains and thunderstorms..do the parks close the rides and attractions because of these??

It depends on the attraction and the intensity of the rain. Indoor rides will continue operating in any weather (unless the entire park is closing because of a hurricane warning or something like that). Outdoor rides will continue to operate as long as it is safe to do so. Test Track and the outdoor roller coasters will likely be among the first to temporarily suspend operations during severe weather. All outdoor rides will halt operation if lightening is in the immediate area. Of course I can't make any guarantees about the weather, but you should know that much of the time storms in Florida are intense for a very brief period and then are gone just as quickly. It's not uncommon to go into a show at WDW (like Nemo or Voyage of the Little Mermaid) and find that during the brief time you were inside and entire thunderstorm came and went.
